Recruiter Interview – Jamie Light

Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Jamie and I am the HR Generalist for Haddad Brands. I started out here at Haddad Brands as an HR Coordinator, with the desire to learn all things HR. As I grew within my role, I took on more of a recruitment focus, and now I manage the recruitment process from start to finish for the organization. I love the fact that I am able to recruit for every type of role in our organization, but also experience other facets of Human Resources.

How did you get into recruiting?

I went to Penn State University, which of course is a huge school, and had no idea what I wanted to do. Sophomore year of college I had to choose a major, and through friends and classmates I found out about Human Resources, so I chose to major in Labor Studies and Employment Relations. I then pursued my career in HR, and eventually that led to my focus in recruitment!

Tell us about your company.

Haddad Brands is a privately held family business with over 70 years of experience in the children’s wear apparel and accessories industry. Haddad is the leading children’s wear manufacturer representing the most iconic American brands in the world; Nike, Jordan, Converse, Hurley, and Levi’s. Our talented professionals are leaders in design, sourcing, sales and global distribution. With over 15 locations and 800 employees globally, it is no surprise that we are already the number one children’s wear company in the world.

Job boards, referrals, etc.

What should job seekers know about your job as a recruiter?

We are trying to find the best opportunity/fit for both you and for us.

What advice do you have for younger job seekers?

Do not apply to every job you see, do your research, and go for what you want.

What advice do you have for older job seekers?

Network as much as you can and always maintain your connections.


Recruiter Bio:

My name is Jamie Light and I am the HR Generalist at Haddad Brands. I graduated with a degree in Labor Studies and Employment Relations from Penn State University in 2015 and joined Haddad Brands that following November. In my role here at Haddad, I focus primarily on recruitment for the organization, but I am in a dynamic role where I am also managing various generalist duties on a day-to-day basis. I enjoy being in the fashion industry, surrounded by so many creative individuals every day.
