StyleGigs.com: The Fashion Freelance Directory

StyleCareers.com is launching a Fashion Freelance Directory called StyleGigs.com in the coming months.  We hope you’ll take a little time to check out the beta-version of the site here.

A LITTLE BACKGROUND

With the increasing influence of private equity in the fashion industry, the need for freelance talent will grow in the coming years as companies endeavor to keep their permanent employee payroll at a minimum (to make the books look good).

In the longer term, AI will reduce the need for entry-level talent.  Fewer entry-level professionals now will mean fewer experienced professionals in a few years.  Companies will be forced to augment their staffs with mature freelance talent to keep up.

We think that a fashion-specific directory will be a big help to freelancers wanting to promote their talent.  As part of the StyleCareers network, user profiles will be actively promoted to recruiters and hiring managers from the biggest brands and best companies in fashion.  

THE PLAN

The plan is to start small with a minimally viable product.  This means that the site will provide basic functionality with additional features being added as we get feedback from users.  

To speed time to market, we are customizing an off-the-shelf, white-label directory software.

FREELANCERS FIRST!

Unlike sites like Freelancer or Upwork, we will NOT be taking a percentage of hourly rates, charging for leads or collecting placement fees.  Our plan is to promote the site and leave the working relationships between freelancers and the companies that need their talent.
