Nothing Comes Easy
I’m Christian Vercellino a menswear designer.
My main source of inspiration is from the streets, the city and the world around me.
By mixing prints, textures and fabrics I am able to create rich designs for the modern man.
Determined, creative and dedicated, I have an international vision for design and providing a certain attitude and individuality for today’s man is my main approach.
What should everyone know about you?
CV: I am a menswear designer mainly influenced by street style, dedicated to the modern man.
How would you describe what you do?
CV: I like to mix prints, textures and fabrics to create rich designs.
Why did you choose to be a designer?
CV: I have always been a very creative person, I enjoy creating things.
What steps did you take to become a designer?
CV: I went to fashion school after studying baking & pastry arts
Best/Most Challenging part of your job?
CV: Having to create designs with different specifications and/or limited time and resources.
If you weren’t a designer what would you be?
CV: A stylist, a fashion photographer, a creative editor, any job related to fashion that would still allow me to be creative.
How did you get started in design?
CV: I grew up in my grandparent’s shop, a very colorful and creative environment, surrounded by clothes, arts and crafts. I am certain that is when my passion began.
What do you like about what you do?
CV: The freedom to create something very particular to your own style and at the same time providing a way for people to express themselves through clothes.
What’s a common misconception people have about what you do?
CV: That there is no background to fashion, no fundamentals just a cold, frivolous industry.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
CV: Being able to reach a larger audience with my creations, whether it is designing for another brand or with my own.
What sparked your interest in design?
CV: Being able to express yourself by being creative.
How has your work evolved since you began your career?
CV: It is always evolving by everything around me; it can only get richer and better.
What are you fascinated by at the moment and how does it feed into your work?
CV: The way social media is able to give you a glimpse into people’s lives and style all over the world, I am fascinated by it and it feeds into my work as a source of inspiration.
What is the biggest lesson that you have learned since you started your career?
CV: Nothing comes easy.
What advice would you give to young designers?
CV: Always stay true to yourself, to your own personal style and ideas.
What would you like to achieve before the end of the year?
CV: To be working for a major fashion brand or being able to sell my designs to a larger audience.
